What is ESSER? |
How can ESSER funds be used? |
As part of the Covid-19 relief endeavor, the federal government passed several stimulus laws that provide financial support to school districts and other K-12 institutions that have faced learning loss. Of these bills, the most fiscally impactful category is called ESSER or Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Fund. There are three main rounds to ESSER:
ESSER I: approved $13.2 billion ESSER II: approved $54.3 billion ESSER III (ARP): approved $123 billion |
ESSER funds can be used for a variety of support, including providing instructional materials and technology, addressing learning loss, and providing resources to plan and implement summer learning and afterschool programs.
